Meat and insects: what are the Americans stockpiling for the end of the world

Many Americans believe that the apocalypse will soon come. According to rough estimates, there are about three million such people. All of them are preparing for the upcoming event and have already made decent supplies of food. Photographer from New Zealand Henry Hargreaves talked with such residents of the United States, found out in detail about their preparation and even tried the food that survivors would eat.

Wayne Martin lives in Texas and went to food storage thoroughly. For example, he stores canned foods in containers filled with cat-like fillers - so they will have a longer shelf life. Also, the man saved and canned food for cats: if he is robbed, then they probably will not be taken. And the Texan has stocks of wine, which in the sad future he plans to pay for instead of money. Wayne also has canned soups and beans in the pantry. The American believes that the apocalypse will happen due to the financial collapse provoked by the Chinese.

Another American, Kellen Bishop, stores pickled vegetables, as well as frozen foods, processed cheeses, pasta, and meat products packaged in a vacuum. His pantry is simply incredible in size and regularly replenished. Kellen is a Mormon, and he also conducts survival training in extreme conditions. Kellen believes Armageddon will happen due to financial collapse.

Idaho's John Major is selling seeds and insanely afraid of a nuclear attack. Therefore, in his stocks are those seeds that grow very quickly, as well as the insects that John plans to prepare after the apocalypse. He prefers flour worms, grasshoppers and crickets. Major also has a special love for Parmesan, which is also in his pantry.

Wilma Bryant of Missouri believes a tornado will trigger the apocalypse. In her pantry, canned soups, nuts, beans and other legumes, pickled vegetables. Also, the woman holds chickens, so that in the case of Armageddon they are killed. He wants to live closer to water.

Farmer Rick Austin thinks Armageddon will come due to the food crisis. He fully grows products for himself and even keeps bees to make medicine. In his stocks are ice cream and smoked meat of animals that he independently raised, as well as everything else from the farm: stocks of fruits and vegetables, nuts, honey, cheese and milk. Rick admitted that preparing for the apocalypse has strengthened his health and he feels much better.

Josh Wonder, who lives in Pennsylvania, wants to be a member of the city council, but this does not prevent him from waiting for the end of the world. Since he is Jewish, his stocks are not very diverse: kosher meat in canned food, rice and matzo. At home, he keeps rabbits that will be slaughtered in the event of an apocalypse. Children are forbidden to give them names so as not to become attached. He believes that the reason for the coming Armageddon is a terrorist attack.

Jason Charles works as a firefighter in New York and believes in natural disasters that will destroy most of the world's population. He wants to turn his apartment into a bunker. Among its reserves are water, canned fish and meat, and noodles.
