Porto

In all the recommendations, Porto is the second after Lisbon. Not in vain! He impressed me even more than the capital, therefore, choosing between these two cities, he would give preference to Porto. A magnificent city that has concentrated all the good and bad that is in Portugal.

Porto is located 270 km north of Lisbon. With good Portuguese roads, this distance is covered in 3 hours.

You can get to the city by all available means: train, bus, plane, car. I rode the bus. Before that, I had never used this transport in Europe. What comfort they have in them: sockets and free wi-fi along the entire path with which the road flies by unnoticed.

The gloomy half-abandoned buildings became even more visible. Now they are everywhere and create their own special atmosphere. Between the main roads, the streets have become even narrower. There was a feeling of an unfavorable area. It became a little exciting to pass by smoking men of not the most pleasant appearance, standing in the doorways of their houses.

Bright colored facades in Porto are noticeably less. If they use colored tiles, then, surrounded by other gray stone houses, it is lost.

Porto stands on the Duero River - closer to the river you can meet flying gulls.

Large squares with trees protecting from the midday sun can also be found, despite the high density of houses.

All roofs are made of orange tiles.

View of the Vila Nova di Gaya.

Freedom Square is the main square of the city.

The gay story continued. Now I got to some rally. There was an active discussion in Portuguese.

Get your port wine drunk, and then wallow on the monuments.

An example of how to deal with abandoned houses.

São Bento Station

See what a beauty!

Constant climbs and descents can tire you.

Don Luis Bridge is a railway, road, and pedestrian bridge across the Douro River. Connects Porto and Vila Nova di Gaya. Built by the student and companion Gustave Eiffel Teofil Seyrig.

The bridge runs a light rail. When not there, the paths are used as a pedestrian zone.

Wine ships.

Without funiculars, it would be difficult for some tourists.

Sunset over the river Duero.

The best view in Porto. A whole photographic club gathered at this point.

If suddenly you have to choose between Lisbon and Porto, choose the second option.
