The abandoned hotel La Posada del Sol is one of the most extravagant and amazing.

In the heart of Mexico City, the mesmerizing ruins of the abandoned La Posada del Sol hotel rise. Once this hotel had every chance of becoming one of the most extravagant and amazing in the world, but instead it became a star among ghosts. Graffiti adorn its stone walls, and visitors come here more to perform dubious rites than to enjoy its beauties and architectural sophistication.

The building is an outstanding creation of Fernando Saldan Galvan, forcing its creator to shed a lot of blood, sweat and tears during construction in the middle of the 20th century. Galvan dreamed that his marvelous structure would become the country's unique art center and one of the most original hotels in the world.

The plans of the creator were truly impressive. Posada del Sol occupies more than half of the block and includes lush gardens, cozy patios with refreshing fountains, terraces and massive paintings. Inside the institution, he wanted to arrange more than 600 rooms, as well as a casino, a theater, a chapel, various galleries, cafes, Turkish baths and even life-size chess.

But, unfortunately for Galvan, the future was not in his favor. In early 1945, the debts of the master reached such heights that the construction of Posad del Sol had to be completely stopped. All his hopes collapsed and, unable to bear the grief, the creator hanged himself in the courtyard of his hotel. According to legends, before his death, Galvan cursed the building, which is why it continues to stand empty until now.

Despite all the indifferent mercilessness of the time, beauty and architectural grace are still inherent in the abandoned building. The combination of colonial architecture in the Baroque and Art Nouveau styles creates an exceptional originality of its appearance, not subject to years.
