As Thailand is taught to walk again unhappy little elephants caught in traps
A sad story, which, I want to believe, will have a happy ending, happened in Thailand, in the province of Chanthaburi. Residents of one of the villages set traps to prevent the invasion of elephants on their territory. Among the victims was a small 5-month-old baby elephant.
Fortunately, the little girl was lucky to get rehabilitation in a private tropical park Nong Nooch in Pattaya, where she was prescribed a very unusual procedure - hydrotherapy, which should help her start walking again.
The wounded baby was called Fa Jam, which means "clear sky".
In the Nong Nooch park, she has her own separate aviary.
Her left leg suffered quite severe injuries.
Well, isn't she a beauty!
Specialists made the elephant a special leather shoe that helps her walk while the wound heals.
Veterinarians regularly treat the wound with a solution to avoid suppuration.
Then apply a fresh bandage.
However, the main part of the rehabilitation program is hydrotherapy.
Fa Jam is carefully lowered into the water. I must say, this is not an easy task.
But tropical park experts believe that such a procedure will help her develop her leg muscles and she will be able to stand on all four limbs again, as well as move around without a prosthesis.
Before immersing a baby elephant in water, it is secured with safety belts.
The cub cannot swim yet, so the cables are needed to prevent it from drowning.
The Fa Jam is still quite small, so at first it’s a little afraid, but a little time will pass, and she will enjoy swimming with might and main.
If you get tired, you can always rest on a person’s shoulder.
That's all, the session is over.
The baby fully trusts the people helping her.
I want to believe that the treatment will help and the baby elephant can walk without any prosthesis.
In the meantime, the Fa Jam is not discouraged and strides with hope for a prosperous future.

In modern culture, the word "Neanderthal" is usually called someone very dark, poorly educated, rude, and in general, far from civilization. In fairness, scientists made a lot of efforts to form such an opinion: it is believed that Neanderthals are less successful and resourceful relatives of people who could not stand the competition with them and became extinct, freeing the Earth for only one dominant species. ...
