Dodge car, which was released in 1955 only for women and was a failure

Everything is soft, with rounded corners, smooth lines and seats the color of strawberry marshmallows - guess what it is? It may seem to you that we have described the carriage from the sleep of a little girl, but this is not entirely true. What we will tell you about today actually existed and was much more real than a dream. However, I didn’t want to let it go just like I didn’t want to part with a beautiful dream.

So, in 1955, the Dodge brand introduced La Femme - a car designed by men for women. The model stood out among others exclusively in a “female” design: from the side, the car looked like a huge, sparkling pink toy.

But the girlish color is far from the only evidence of a car belonging to the beautiful half of humanity. The company's designers thought out every tiny detail in the car. They complemented the interior with such purely feminine tricks as an umbrella of pink flamingo color, a handbag of the same shade and a makeup holder.

Despite the fact that the car really looked like a princess’s dream, the girls didn’t line up for him at car dealerships. The rejected pink crumbs gathered dust in the exhibition halls and made their creators think about the mistakes made.

Next year's La Femme was equipped with bright pink rugs, and the interior was executed in a delicate lavender shade, which certainly should have won women's hearts. The handbag was removed to hell, but the umbrella and raincoat seemed to the creators appropriate this time.

Alas, in 1956, a model for women was waiting for failure. Salons were able to sell only one and a half thousand cars, the remaining "marshmallows" did not leave their seats.

It looked like a set of additional La Femme paraphernalia, designed to make the girl’s movement even more comfortable and enjoyable.

As a result, this bad experience forced marketing staff to reconsider their views on the gender concept when creating expensive products such as cars.
