The new V-shaped airplane: why the future belongs to it, and not to the Boeing and Airbus

Recently, the public was presented a new aircraft Flying-V. The plane looks very bold, and even in its appearance differs from the usual liners: it has two huge wings that diverge in different directions from the cockpit. And this is a true innovation that is truly ahead of all modern airliners: a V-shaped airplane is more environmentally friendly and aerodynamic compared to the planes that fly today.

Developed a new liner engineers from the company KLM, the Netherlands. Interestingly, the name of the unusual aircraft was in honor of the legendary Gibson Flying-V guitar, which was played by members of The Rolling Stones. True, the similarities were discovered later, after the development of the project.

The advantages of Flying-V over modern airliners are obvious: a V-shaped aircraft leads to an increase in lift, as well as a reduction in drag. Due to its unusual shape, the aircraft is more economical than other airliners and will consume much less fuel during the flight: the figure will decrease by about 20-25 percent compared to its predecessors. And if aircraft reduce fuel consumption, this will significantly reduce the amount of emissions into the environment.

The cabin itself with passenger seats is located in the wings, the luggage compartment is also located here. Flying-V can accommodate up to three hundred-odd people. This means that with less fuel consumption, a larger number of people can fit in the liner.

However, while it’s not possible to see the novelty live, the construction launch is scheduled for 2040. Today, only a prototype has been developed, and if you still decide to build it, then the liner will revolutionize all modern aviation.
