China does not cease to amaze the world with its technological successes and grandiose structures. In China there are many outstanding objects that are unparalleled in Europe, or in the United States, or even in Japan. One of them is the Danyang-Kunshan Viaduct, which we will talk about today.

Danyang-Kunshan Viaduct is the longest bridge in the world, which stretches for 164.8 kilometers. According to this indicator, the viaduct is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The grand technical facility is located on the highway between the cities of Shanghai and Nanjing, in the province of Jiangsu. This is part of the high-speed railway that crosses several cities and has 5 stations. The construction of the longest bridge in the world was carried out from two sides and lasted only 2 years and a little, and its official opening took place in the summer of 2011.

Most of the bridge is located in the Yangtze River Valley, and the viaduct itself crosses many different landforms on its way. More than 10 factories were involved in the production of concrete structures for the construction of the bridge, and delivery to the construction site was carried out using water transport. Where the viaduct crosses the mountains, tunnels have been laid, and the largest water obstacle to the bridge is Yangcheng Lake in the area of Suzhou.

About 10,000 people were employed in the construction of the bridge. Particular attention was paid to the safety of the building. According to design data, the bridge is able to withstand earthquakes and other natural disasters.
