In the Moscow region on Maslenitsa they burned a Gothic "temple" of branches

On Sunday, all the cities of Russia hosted the final celebrations of Pancake Week: pancakes, festivities and, of course, the culmination of the event - burning a scarecrow. However, in the suburbs they decided to replace the scarecrow ... with a Gothic building. In the art park "Nikola-Lenivets" a 30-meter-high structure of branches was erected, similar to a Gothic temple. The burning of the design was exciting, but opinions about the finale were divided, including the performance criticized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The author of the project "Flaming Gothic" was Nikolai Polissky. He said that he had hatched the idea for a long time, and, in fact, literally showed the name of the flaming Gothic style (this style was popular in the 15th century in Europe): “Pancake week is a time when people give freedom to everything natural within themselves, are ready to walk and celebrate right up to catharsis, after which they accept spiritual rigor and fasting. I have hatched the idea of a cathedral born of flame for a long time, it’s interesting to look at a creative fire that draws images in real time. "Flaming Gothic" appeared.

After the performance was criticized, Polissky tried to explain his project, stating that there was nothing cult in his art object: there are no crosses, an altar and other Christian symbols. This is just a bonfire, built in the style of a Gothic building, and the artist did not want to offend anyone, much less to burn a Christian church.
