"Bob Marley" - a Rastaman guesthouse in the mountains of Nepal

In Nepal, for trackers and hikers, guesthouses and mini-hotels are already full, and the more popular the route, the more there are.

But believe me, such a guest as "Bob Marley" in Muktinath, alone, and not only in Nepal, but I think that in the world!

They say that Bob Marley once came here to look for the meaning of life. Whether it’s true or not, I don’t know, but his name lives here and attracts trackers from all over the world, and for many, checking into this guesthouse becomes almost an obligatory point on a trip around Annapurna.

In fact, the village in which the hotel is built should not be called Muktinath, but Ranipauva. Muktinath is the name of the temple complex located in the neighborhood. But Ranipauva itself would be an unremarkable village if one of the most popular Nepalese routes around the formidable 8-thousand-strong Annapurna did not pass through it. Almost all the routes around her lead here to Muktinath. After the highest and heaviest Torong La pass (5416 m), travelers go down, go through the Muktinath Temple and find themselves in a nice village, where almost at the very beginning they are met by this cute guest house "Bob Marley".

In Ranipauva, there are a lot of guest houses, and even there are mini-hotels with heating and some semblance of “comfort”, but still this Rastaman guesthouse is rightfully considered the most popular and most atmospheric accommodation. At the peak of the season, he is always busy and must be booked in advance.

The rooms at Bob are simple, like everywhere else - 4 walls and 2 beds. I was lucky, got a room with a window, which is located just above the main exit.

I highly recommend these windows with windows. Why? Because they are WARM !!!

These rooms are illuminated and basked in the sun all day, during the day there is generally heat, and in the evening the heat is kept for quite some time. The remaining numbers are below and in eternal shadow, and there is an incredible oak tree. People dress warmly, crawl into thick sleeping bags, cover themselves with a blanket, and still freeze. And in these "sunny" rooms, one sleeping bag and thermal underwear was more than enough) At first, it even seemed to me that they had some kind of heating. But this is only the sun)

And the atmosphere of "Bob Marley" begins in his restaurant "Rasta Rock". The walls are hung with flags and souvenirs of tourists, plays reggae, the place is full for everyone, and in the evenings it is always crowded. The prices here, however, are quite high compared to other guest houses, but here it is very cozy and tasty! However, food must be ordered in advance - dinner must be ordered no later than lunch, and breakfast at dinner. Products are bought here strictly according to the number of orders, and if I did not order anything, then at best they will make sandwiches. There is also a “Reggae” bar where you can warm up not only with music and ginger tea, but with something stronger.

As I said, as soon as the sun sets, it becomes very cold! There is no heating in the guest house, but on the ground floor there is a large stove (well, or a fireplace, if you want), and all the people after dinner gather here to warm themselves by the fire, raise some muck and share their impressions of the track covered around the mountain. The stove is heated notably, and it’s really warm there) The stove, by the way, is located directly under the restaurant, therefore it is not very cold up there either.

And another important “Bob” bun is his hot shower !!! Everyone who walked along the Annapurna track knows that a hot shower there is a fairy tale, but that there is a shower, hot water is a dream !. Therefore, the first thing all the trackers, going down and settling in the guesthouse, run into a hot shower to wash and bask after a long and hard hike.

True, the soul has a peculiarity - in the morning there is no hot water until the sun rises. No, the shower is heated by electricity, but the pipes through which water flows freeze at night, and until the sun warms them up and they thaw out - the water is dumb. But usually by 10 a.m. it is already possible to wash, and earlier, without need, no one gets up here anyway)))

The whole hotel is hung with Jamaican posters and pictures of Bob Marley, and there’s even a T-shirt with his alleged autograph, which he left when he was here. For the sake of complete happiness, only Jamaican warmth and Jamaican rum are lacking here) So you have to get by with Nepalese tea and a warm stove!

Here he is, "Bob Marley" on the Annapurna track. And if you suddenly plan your trip in these places, I highly recommend you settle in here and relax here a couple of days after a difficult pass in the mountains. Moreover, further downhill and return to Pokhara, and there is civilization. And there are still mountains!
